Dock Street Bar & Grill has been one of the staple watering holes in the downtown area for almost 12 years. Not only does the menu reflect the true spirit of Annapolis, serving up the best crab cakes and beers you can find, even the building is imbued with real historical Annapolis charm. Way back in […]

Rhea’s Plate of the Month: Crab Hash

Ever since Iron Rooster opened their doors in downtown Annapolis roughly two and half years ago, they’ve been “makin’ bacon” and serving breakfast all day, much to the delight of locals and tourists alike. They currently have three locations (Annapolis, Canton, and Hunt Valley) with another site set to open in Federal Hill on July […]

Rhea’s Plate of the Month: Chorizo Scotch Egg

As you stroll up Main Street you might not see it: a small sign in the shape of a fox’s head hanging surreptitiously – the way a fox sign should – in front of two inconspicuous glass doors. Open these doors and you are led down a flight of stairs where another fox head, this […]

Nestled in the heart of Eastport is one of its crowning jewels, Vin 909. Since it opened almost four years ago, owner and executive chef Justin Moore has been giving ‘Eastportaricans’ and Annapolitans alike tasty morsels like Fresh Hand Made Mozzarella and Cast Iron Skirt Steak (two of my personal favs). He has established himself […]

Rhea’s Plate of the Month: Pescatrice alla Puttanesca

The word osteria translates to “an Italian restaurant, typically a simple or inexpensive one” (oxforddictionary.com).  However, it would be a mistake to take this translation too literally when it comes to Osteria 177 on Main Street. Osteria 177 offers all the enchantments of a gourmet Italian dinner you could wish for, but it would be […]

Rhea’s Plate of the Month: Halibut Papillote with Grilled Vegetables

It may be the start of fall, but that doesn’t mean summer has had its last say. Jean-Louis Evennou, head chef and owner of downtown Annapolis’ Café Normandie, has been bringing French cuisine to Annapolis for over 25 years and this month I had the pleasure of savoring some superb summer flavors in his dish […]
