@Happie_Foodie Instagram Pic of the Week

We are more than happy to introduce our Weekly Instagram Foodie Pic from Rhea Torreon of @happie_foodie. Every Friday, we will post a selected Instagram photo from @happie_foodie to our Foodie Annapolis instagram, facebook and twitter pages (@foodieannapolis). Get to know Rhea and Happie Foodie below.

Rhea is a born-and-raised Annapolitan with Filipino roots and has been an enthusiast for all things food since childhood. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a BA in English Language and Literature and has been working in the food industry for over 12 years. She believes bacon really does make everything better, and is a lover of pineapples, kombucha, and the occasional tequila. On her off-time, Rhea enjoys yoga and playing with her two cats, Clifford and Dinosaur.

Where are you from and where do you currently live?

I was born and raised in Annapolis. I now call the Bay Ridge area home.

What made you start the IG account Happie Foodie?

My love for food and pictures led to my Instagram account Happie Foodie.

What has been your favorite part of running the account?

I love sharing my food experiences and inspirations through Instagram. Food is often a feast for the eyes before the mouth, so food pictures are a great way to engage others.

How do you hope it grows in the future?

My hope is that Happie Foodie can help show that eating can be fun and healthy. I try to live by a few simple rules: everything in moderation, and you are what you eat so don’t be fast, easy, cheap, or fake.

What are your favorite places to eat in or around Annapolis?

When I want to go out for a nice gourmet meal my go-to places are Vin 909, Grapes Wine Bar of Annapolis, and Jalapenos. When I need a quick, nourishing bite say, after yoga, I love to hit Eastport Kitchen, Tastings Gourmet Market, Zoe’s kitchen, and Rutabaga’s. When I’m looking for a more late-night spot with great food and tasty cocktails I go to Level, Fox’s Den, and Dock Street.

What are you favorite foods?

Like any good Marylander I have an innate love of crabs. Beyond that I love to eat just about anything and everything, most notably: ramen, pizza, avocado toast, runny eggs anything, grilled oysters, and mint ice cream (the white kind, not the green).

Whether you’re looking for the freshest Maryland Blue Crabs, farm-to-table ingredients served by local chefs, live music venues with performances every night, or the town’s tastiest cocktails, our local bloggers are here to point you in the right direction. Every now and again, we come across a great story about this amazing county and post it under the Spotlight section of Foodie Annapolis to share with our readers. This curated content allows us to serve you a wider range of all the great tastes Annapolis & Anne Arundel County has to offer.
